zach braff does a 4 minute amazing video with Donald Faison and Jim parson and others

This will be the follow up to garden state. Not a sequel but the same tone as Garden State. He wrote it himself. He explains everything in this video. Since I love garden state and the soundtrack so much and since I make pretty decent money I am giving money to him.

I only know the basic concept of kickstarter so ive got a question

Is there any protection from scams on there?

From what I know, there's no real protection from scams. I think the terms of use basically just asks the person putting up the kickstarter to "try their best" at fulfilling whatever it is that they are offering up. There have been a couple scams already, where people got money and then suddenly disappeared, but not a ton I don't think.

You don't pay anything unless a project hits its goal amount by the end of the kickstarter. At that point, if it's over the goal, it'll charge whatever payment option you used to pledge. Typically the person that put up the kickstarter will send out updates from time to time to keep everyone up to date on the progress of the project and to get the needed information (in the case of bonus gifts for pledging at certain tiers and such).

Adam Carolla is trying to finance his next movie through kickstarter. I don't know how far along in the process he is, but the way he's doing it is that he went through the script and found a scene that pretty much encapsulates the theme and tone of the movie and they're shooting that scene to put on kickstarter.

He said he'd rather show people what they would be financing instead of just putting up a video asking for money.

I'm still upset they didn't approve of my Kramerica Kickstarter. Needed funding for mustard and ketchup in same bottle and rubber lining for oil tankers.

Very smart. I want this kickstarter method of getting projects made to suceed but I see a major dropoff of support, down the road, when a lot of these projects don't pan out. Corolla is already setting himself apart from the herd.

Come on bro. I thought that we were past insults now that we have bonded over our mutual love of Supernatural. And we even played in a fantasy football league together. That's bro status right there son

it wont be long until Hollywood tries to double dip by getting people to fund their movies through Kickstarter and then charge them to see it in theaters.

Makes sense but garden state is the reason why I have confidence. I really don't need a scene from the upcoming to feel confident on this one.

You threw a shot at my scrubs boy. I'm sorry.

We are still Bro's

You should have played fantasy basketball. I made the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Since I started watching the video and reading the supporting material, it raised more than $60k in pledges.

I'll get my wife to watch the video tonight. I'm sure she'd want to pledge $60. It would be cool so see production diaries, soundtrack, pre-screening, and get some prints, tee shirt, and the script.

There are worse ways to waste that cash. This is pretty cool, especially since I loved Garden State and Scrubs.
