Is there any way that Justin Upton isn't using PEDs?

Last year he didn't hit his 10th homer until the end of August.

The guy just hit his 10th homer today...

He had zero protection last year. They have to pitch to him.

PEDs won't help you THAT much.

virtually every study done, at least that I've found, shows that lineup protection is a myth, fwiw.

He had a bad season. He was pretty great 2 years ago.

Pretty sure he was battling some injuries last year. He's always had the potential to be one if the best.

Wasn't he hurt last year and finished third in MVP voting the year before?

It's early

Dexter Fowler has like 7 or 8 doesn't he?

Not to mention they had a similar lineup the season before last and he was fantastic.

He battled a thumb injury last year, which is obviously terrible for hitters.

And yeah, he has a 30/20 season under his belt and he's only 26.

Maybe one spot protecting one other spot....but when you have a lineup like the braves, you can't just put someone on base to get to the next guy.

I'm not looking at any numbers, but I'd be willing to bet aside from Upton, the D'backs hit better in 12 than they did in 11.

A couple years ago on baseball tonight they mentioned that while he didn't lead the league in home runs, the average distance on his homers was way more than anybody else in the majors

I don't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head.

But he's clearly had the power, maybe he's just making more consistent swings now.

He hit 31 Hrs and 39 doubles in 2011. This isn't too much of a surprise to me.

a lot if it is Justin, too. He’s hitting .386 in 44 at-bats with the bases empty and .148 in 27 at-bats with runners on. Nine of his 10 homers have been solo shots.
