05 Tahoe sluggish at take off

OB Mechanics, I have a 2005 Z71 Tahoe, wife called and said it was barely moving and stuttering at take off from a few red lights this afternoon. Am I looking at a new fuel pump?
I would change the fuel filter, but sice those gurus put it in the tank, I guess the pump might as well be replaced. I am going to pick up a bottle of Lucas system cleaner on the way home to run through just for the hell of it. Any other opinions on what it might be?

Seems like you have a good start. I was going to do the typical GM = shite stuff but since the wife is driving it I will blame it on the woman driver.

Mine has done this before.. always thought it was the transmission slipping. I'm no mechanic though.

JM, she did mention that it felt like it wasnt shifting, so I dont actually know if it is a fuel related problem. Does yours just do it every once in a while?
I will know more when I get home and drive it.
ETA: Not sure yet Judge, she only mentioned the "Oil life at 30%", but it was changed recently and not reset.

That might be it. The throttle body on my wifes Escape went out and the car would stumble then you'd lose all control with the gas pedal. The engine would run, but it wouldn't go.

Good call, didnt even think about the TB. I bet there is 8 years of carbon on it.

My fuel pump went out once in my 99 Tahoe.
There is no working/not working back and forth.
When it goes you you better start pulling over before you lose speed.

Thats what I was thinking, I originally thought of a clogged filter, and pump would just go out. Leaning towards the throttle body now, she just said it ran fine after take off, so maybe its not a fuel issue.

Yes and i want to say it usually happens when i dont have to quite come to a complete stop at a light. Kinda like it didnt get in a low enough gear or something.
TB was cleaned on mine i think when i had the plugs replaced and a few other things.

I have a Suburban and have changed the fuel pump three times. Pain in the arse to change it. Have to drop the tank.

Sounds like throttle body.
Also check the EGR. Those get clogged up and affect idle and low speed.

Matt, Press the toe button and see if it shifts better, if so may just be a sensor in the trans. Worst case is the trans is gone.
