I think people here who are on the "He was just speaking his mind" bandwagon have never held a position of professional scrutiny or organizational obligation to understand why his comments were a bad idea.

As a prominent LSU football player, he is a public figure whether he likes it or not. He represents the university and, in turn, the state. He needs to understand his spot and be cautious. That's the way the world works.

I find it fascinating that so many posters here are okay with others making broad generalizations about groups of people. "Gay men are sissies" The same posters who get upset when a Bama fan says that all LSU fans are trashy because of one game day experience with one LSU fan.

Blue was 19 coming out of high school. If I remember correctly he completed some kind of accelerated program because he was behind academically. He is also a senior. Not really a smart move on his part. All he had to say was "no comment". He doesn't ever have to agree with gay football players in the locker room.

You don't have to accept them, but you must respect them as equal citizens. They deserve fair treatment just like anyone else under the law.

Blue said what is the absolute truth in any football locker room. Unfortunately some reporter got Blue to answer the question. Blue couldnt win either way on this one.
Its time for CLM to address his team regarding exploitation by the media. Its a different time and place.Im glad I got to experience college when i did and not now. Any little slip up can be national news in an hour. These kids cant afford to be kids any more; its a shame.
