My cousin was straight, got married and had 3 kids and then 2 years after her 3rd child was born, became a lesbian. Does that satisfy your need for "evidence" that it is a choice?
Holy shite man. Read it again, it's like you are arguing against yourself.
You might think MAYBE she was always a lesbian but tried to live as a straight woman (living a lie). She tried to choose to be straight. She went as far as getting married and having kids but after years of living the lie, she came out.
Did I just get trolled? Probably.

so according to you, you can't choose to be gay at 30, but your cousin can? so maybe you can't choose for the same reason she can choose. And that's because it's not a "choice"?
Boom.

So you think 5-6 year olds are making the cognizant choice to be gay?
I don't know, what age do you think someone has the intelligence to make an informed choice? I was pretty knowledgeable at 5 or 6 about wanting a girlfriend and not a boyfriend. If you are born gay, would you not want to kiss boys on the playgraound instead of girls at 5 or 6?

everyone has a right to their own opinion, but when the greater LSU community rallies to support you in a time of need (when his family's house caught fire and LSU fans contributed $80K to the Blue family in private donations), he should probably have kept his homophobic opinions to himself out of respect for any gay people who sought to support he and his family through difficult times with unqualified generosity.
I was one of the idiots who gave money. While I'm not homosexual I really hate bigots, racists, hypocrites, and morons.

I love Alfred Blue. Best thing ever. Seriously.

So do men in prison "choose to be gay" when they engage in activity they probably don't outside of prison? Obviously, it is a choice for at least some.
I normally don't engage in these types of conversations but you have been going on for pages about how ignorant people are for believing people "choose" to be gay.

I think they are choosing to engage in homosexual, sexual activity due to their circumstances and need for sexual release.
I do not believe that is the same thing as being romantically, physically, emotionally attracted to the same sex

So you sat down at the age of 5-6 and weighed the pros and cons and made a cognizant decision to go with girls? It wasn't more like...innate or instinct?

Is it out of the realm of possiblity that maybe my cousin was straight her whole life and then made the "choice" to become gay? How can you say with certainty that she was born gay, "and lived a lie" for all of that time. You cannot, thus my premise is feazable. I just texted her to find out if she believes that she was born gay or became gay later on. I will update.

Holy shite man. Comparing a prison rapist to a gay person in society? There's nothing I can say to help this level of stupidity.

I went to a ghetto high school and a football player tried to rape a freshman boy in the locker room. Actually I think he was just trying to scare the kid but anyway...I remember other players talking about the player not really being gay because he was the one that was gonna be doing the screwing. Only the boy (screwee) would be considered gay.
Scary, funny, and sad true story from the mid 80s.

why can't you choose to be gay? Just because? maybe because you just aren't gay? shocker
ETA: also, 2 of my friends have said they wished they could be straight. They really want the wife, the kids, the house, etc. They just are not attracted to women at all

No prob but needed to be a little more mature about it! If that's how u feel fine but that stuff can be kept and just show em how you feel on the field and I'm sure the gay dude would too not in any funny way, talkn football! Dudes still young people. I know when I was that age I had a similar view but now I know better!! Speak ya mind young man and back it up too!!!

It was a combination I guess. I was raised to like girls, all of my friends liked girls, so I liked girls. You cannot prove if it is a choice or genetic. So why do you think my assumption is wrong and yours is right. Also, see above about men in prison. It may be circumstance, but they are choosing to engage in homosexuality, whether it is romantic love or not, it is homosexuality.

You obviously don't understand the fact of TREMENDOUS societal pressure to fit in the heterosexual norm.
Do you honestly think someone would choose to be something that fields such hatred and ignorance from people like you?
I know lots of gay people, and all of then were "straight" for years out of fear of criticism and lack of understanding.
You don't understand what it's like to have to live a lie out of fear and you never will so you should probably just shut the frick up.

i just don't get why there's so much homophobia today, in 20-frick-13. i mean, who are gay people a "threat" to? last time i checked, they pay their taxes, aren't responsible for a huge amount of crime, keep their yards well-groomed, etc. what's not to like? if any other group, social, ethnic, religious or otherwise, had the same social qualities of the gay population, they would be touted as outstanding members of society. but apparently people who secretly repress their gay urges seem to want to publicly oppose it in order to rationalize their own repression (Hegelian reversal).
how's that saying go? he doth protest too much? (that isn't directed at Blue, who i think is misguided with respect to this topic, but a genuinely good guy) if you hate gay people, then i automatically assume that you wish you were gay. here's short article detailing some scientific experiments that show that the people who most devoutly express homophobia may tend to secretly desire to be gay. Homophobes Might Be Hidden Homosexuals

How about this for why I know it's not a choice. I am gay. And I have known that since I was very young even though I tried to live a straight life for years. I was born gay dude. Back down and don't tell me otherwise. It's insulting.

I could "choose" to be gay if I wanted to, it would not be enjoyable for me, but I could "choose" to.
I just spoke with my cousin and she said that she was straight prior to marriage. She did not get the love and affection from her husband that her "best friend/now girlfriend" gave her. Divorced her husband and is now with her girlfriend. She said for her it was a choice, but said her girlfriend has always know she was gay. I guess we will never know.
