I mostly saltwater fish, and I have a handful of buddies that are anti dead shrimp....they primarily only fish with artificial and sometimes live shrimp. They pretty much turn their noses up to it. For my part, I don't give a shite WHAT they are biting on....I'll fish with whatever. Why would anyone take a bait out of play????

No, but I hate fooling with live. If they will bite art. I don't buy live or dead. If they won't, I will.

Good to have in fall/winter for reds. Will draw hardheads like there is no tomorrow in spring/summer.

Yes. But that's when I'm fishing tuna. I always go for a lively sardine with no red on it's nose. I eyeball the bait tray for a while before selecting the right one.

All in all I think it's really dependent upon what type of fishing you're doing. I try and pick what ever is gonna make my reel sing.

Hell no! I like catching fish. I'll use whatever they want to eat. Leave that pretentiousness for flyfishermen in kayaks. I hardly ever hold up my bait for a hoist, anyway.

Cherry-picking live bait is a different issue altogether.

I prefer artificial but ill use whatever it takes to fill the fish box.

Fishing with dead skrimps does suck dick because you're constantly fighting with hardheads and croakers.

Sounds like you need to learn how to fish for cobia, snapper, and fat trout.....

If a croaker is too big for bait, it's going in the box.

I use whatever the fish are biting. Whether it be plastics, live/dead shrimp, cocahoes, etc. I like to fill the box up, I'll use whatever I have to. My go to is deadly Dudley plastics though.

We use those big arse dead shrimp for snapper sometimes, mostly cut bait though. I've never caught too many trout on dead shrimp though.

We use cigar minnows, squid, or pogies for snapper.

Croakers or artificial for trout

And croakers or artificials for ling

I've never been on an offshore boat that had dead shrimp. Not saying it doesn't work, I know snapper would def eat it.

But to say that a guy doesn't know how to fish because he complains about catching hardheads on dead shrimp is a pretty retarded statement.

Bug Island, the chimney and Miller's bay. I'd have that soft plastic out of your hands in 5 minutes.

I will not fish soft plastics. I also know guys who look down upon any kind of real bait, live or dead.

I have heard both sides of this. My friend would get mad if I would use live while he was using artificials. He would tell me I'm I'm making it too easy for the fish (WTF momment) and they would stop biting on his plastics.

One day, after I pulled in my 4th or 5th speck over 2 pounds he put down the beetles and started fishing with live bait.

I've also been when he was flat smoked me on artificials. I feel its whatever you;

A) Like

B) Confortable with

C) Have the most confidence in

Just my 2 cents
