I am not on the "hate" side of the TM7 argument, but he does not deserve the cover. This is just another example of the media rewarding people for their bad behavior. Luke Joeckel deserves the cover more. He's going first. On, but he doesn't "move the needle," so too bad for you.

How does someone who never put on a lsu uniform and probably doesn't even know the alma matter say a ex Student athlete is not a tiger? Who are you again?

99.9% of CFB fans wouldn't be able to pick Joeckel out of a lineup. No one gives a crap about OL players. For a cover, you put the player who draws attention and will get people to buy the magazine. Since SI has several different covers depending on the region, there is no more polarizing player in the SE USA in the draft than Mathieu is.

Also, for the record it isn't set in stone that Joeckel is going #1. Many predictions have Eric Fisher going #1 to KC.

So you're saying that this creep got the cover just because some stupid business made a questionable decision that would make the most money?

Remind me again about TM7's tweet last night.

And you'd be able to identify Luke Joeckel if ESPN gave him as much face time as they gave to douchebags who won't even be drafted ahead of him like Matt Barkley, Geno Smith, and Tyrann Mathieu.

They don't talk about him and then shut him out of the conversation because nobody knows him. Welcome to the echo chamber.

1) Yes, SI decided to put him on the cover because that will probably allow them to sell the most magazines.

2) He got the cover because after a year away from football and everyone expecting he would drop to maybe the 6-7th round, he showed up at the combine and made everyone else look average. Go watch the drills, there was no one near the talent level of Mathieu in the DB group this year.
Now he is predicted to be a potential 2nd rounder.

3) I don't follow 20 year olds and analyze their tweets. The brilliant thing about twitter is that it just reinforces the concept that everyone has an opinion and someone always has a different one from the one tweeted.

Actually, no I wouldn't because if they gave him a lot of face time, I would be changing the channel.

Don't really agree with rewarding bad behavior. He fell off the horse which was very well documented, and he has been able to pick himself back up pretty remarkably. I'm not saying he fricked, and he even admits he fricked up royally. He has been on the right road ever since his arrest and is doing everything to pick himself back up.

And he might not be the most deserving. But espn is in the business of selling magazines here, and what is more enticing? This story will most certainly a more than Lukes. Fair or not, that's just the biz

It is not the media's job to reward good behavior, it's their job to make money. As a former member of said media, they put out what people read and watch. If you don't like it, don't buy the publication or don't watch the show...but don't blame the media for what they focus on, blame the shitton of others who read and watch those 'undeserving' subjects.

That said, geaux Tyrann and every other former player trying to make a pro team. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.

I think he will get drafted a lot higher than most people think. I predict mid-late 2nd round. No way he makes it to the 3rd round IMHOFWIW

Apparently you didn't read the comments in that yahoo article.

I want him to play for the cowboys, but I don't think that'll happen since we have spent so much money in the past year on our secondary.

Clouds or smoke over his left shoulder.

In all seriousness, I wish him greatness in his NFL career. For those who don't, bitterness and judgement are your names.
