Lowlifes stealing games from Redbox

I rented my first game from Redbox, MLB 2k13 for Xbox 360, just to see if it is as atrocious as everyone says. Anyway, I get an empty box. Some lowlife scumbags are stealing the games and putting the barcodes in the box in a way that it scans the game as returned. Is this common? Do they have anyway of catching these dirtbags? I had to call Redbox for them to sort it out, which they did fortunately.

Can trace credit cards and who rented it last. I am not sure if Redbox lets people use those temp Visas and such from WalMart though. That would be harder to track.

They've been doing that for a while. Pretty douche move, but Redbox definitely should've expected it.
