Masters official "tv viewer called in about Tiger"

Fred Ridley just said this in a press conference on golftv
Said this is a common thing. People call in about possible infractions and then they review it.
This seems strange to me. Some dude on his couch can call and this lead to possible penalties for players?
Does anyone else feel like there is something wrong with this? I'm just not sure how I feel about that.

I will remember this during the NBA playoffs when the refs blow a call.
I'll have David Stern and Stu Jackson on speed dial.
I will also be doing this during CFB and NFL games..
.....oh wait

Same thing happened to Dustin Johnson grounding his club in a trampled down grass filled bunker on hole 72 and cost him a major... I personally don't agree with it, but if they realize he broke a rule you can't just look the other way

Been happening for a while i believe. I think it shouldn't be allowed. Some hater could just nit pick at every little detail on someone they don't like.

I'm gonna start calling the NBA when I see a player traveling.

Exactly...how the frick do you allow someone on their couch to call in something?
It's pathetic and incredibly hypocritical from an organization (Augusta) that considers themselves the most highly coveted organization in the country

Cant' stand it. Worst bullshite ever IMO.
That being said, according to Augusta's official statement, the caller didn't earn him the penalty. They ruled the caller was wrong. Later Tiger said he went back 2 yards to take out hitting the flag again. THEN they met with him and made the ruling.
Messed up situation all around.

I just never knew about this shite.
If they can't officiate their event then wtf is going on here?

By the way...How in the world does the couch-sitting golf police get the phone # to call the clubhouse or the tv truck? Is there a tip line?

I see what you are saying but if that guy doesn't call in, does it even ever get looked at?
They have some serious problem if they can't officiate their own event without need something like this.
They don't show every shot on tv. How is this fair?

You police yourself in golf. Probably why it's the biggest sandbagging sport in the world.

Democracy in action
Just like:
Reality TV (anybody can be a star)
Lotteries (anybody can be a millionaire)
Rap (anybody can be a musician)

This is the biggest thing. How the frick do you know other guys weren't "cheating" as well and just weren't caught on camera?

The masters is the only major event that doesn't have walking officials.
Seems like bullshite on their part.

This will lead to a dramatic rise in couch-police phone calls to golf tournaments. Guarantee it. I didn't even know you could do that until now.

Does this just occur in the masters?
Reporter made it seem that way when he was asking about the Augusta being one of the only tournaments not having walking officials.
