I may get behind this, I don't plan on buying any new weapons from them in the future and am really not a fan of their ammo anyway

Obviously their voice was not heard so it is time to move on. I have been waiting for some of these companies to make a statement so we would know where they stand. We now know where Remington stands. Kimber and Ruger will be next. When they choose to stay in a state and support a government that wants to take your weapons away then you as gun owner are a fool to do business with them. You are directly supporting the state of New York and all of their ideas.
You have to make a stand sometime. I was just at an event today that was sponsored by Ruger and I bought one of their guns that was manufactured in Arizona. I asked the rep if they had any plans to move their headquarters from Connecticut and he said they had not yet made a decision. Once these firms like Remington, Kimber,Colt, Ruger make a decision to stay in these states you would have to be a hypocrite to do business with them. Every time I pick up a Kimber now the first thing that jumps out at me is made in Yonkers, NY

$16,000 per rifle? sounds like a bribe to stay where they are to me...

I have no problem with them staying because they think its the right thing to do, but it appears that they have been bought, and that is not acceptable to me.

Sucks too.
The one consolation I can see is that these small towns depend on these factories to bring in money. I guess they didn't want to have to make people relocate, but hell, that's the climate of the state and it's what they should've done.
I think Magpul did it best with their NO-BS approach. I'll continue to support companies like that.

They took a bribe thinly veiled as a contract to stay put. Their Facebook page really is getting blasted. Every other comment is calling them traitors and socialists.

F$%k'em. I've always been a Remington and Browning guy. Probably have at least 30 Remington guns and have bought their rifles for my wife, daughters, and nephews. No more. I am paying close attention to which companies support my views and will supporty them whole heartedly.

It is. They arent making bench rest rifles. No way a tactical rifle should cost that much. This hurts me because I have loved and defended the 700. I am beyond pissed off.

The sad thing is that most gun buyers will not care one way or the other. Without people sticking together it is almost impossible to make a difference. Hell, people will buy Chinese junk if it is a few dollars cheaper than American made products.

I was seriously thinking of getting the R1 1911 too. No way now.

I have a Remington Moutain ssl in 300 win mag and would buy another in a heart beat.

And this is the kind of thinking that will insure that there is more gun control. Reward the companies and states that want to take away your freedoms.

I see it. They deserve every bit of the flaming.
Sucks too because I love their products. I bought an 870 over the summer and 3 of my dad's faithful deer rifles are Rem700s.
But I'm with you guys. I hate seeing companies who rely on the faithful gun-owning community for business suddenly turn a cold shoulder to us. Remington is gonna be seen in the same boat as Cheaper than Dirt now, and rightfully so.

Im not defending remington.
$16000 really isnt that much.
Usually, this price is for a complete weapon system. Meaning Optic, rifle, magazines, case, suppressor, extra barrels, parts, etc etc. Also, the contracts usually spell out how long remington will have to support these weapons.
Here is an Accuracy International package that is more. It doesnt even include optics.

Well, this is depressing. I love all my Remington guns so much I was gonna name my next dog Remington.
Can't support a company that does something like this though.
