You can never assume wins in sports. LSU laid an egg at the end of the Florida game. If LSU gets blown out by UF then maybe I agree. That game was practically won, and LSU could not put the game away.
It happened two more times in the season, and nearly happened again vs Ole Miss.

Another thing. I am all for having balanced schedules within the conference.
However I think the current bowl system has contributed to teams choosing to water down their schedule.
No one really wants to see LSU plow through the bottom of the barrel all season. However teams feel the need to limit the amount of games they could possibly lose. This is because the current system is more favorable to power conference teams with the cleanest records.
Personally I like when LSU plays UF and UGA bc it provides for a high quality game. The 2011 season was great in that they beat so many good teams.
If you want to be the best then you have to beat the best.
