I can't find .223/5.56 anywhere without payin an arm and a leg for it. I can find 7.62 for decent prices and mags are still plentiful for the AK. The only problem is the rifles are at AR prices now. I can't see spending $900 on an century build basic WASR. I should've bought when they $350 and SKS's were $120.

Yep, think it will be awhile before they really fall to around where they were, if at all. I think they drop in price, just not as much as what many of us are hoping for.

I've seen where they've started to fall a little. Most are hovering around 800-1k, where they were 12-1500. They're gonna have to come down a lot more for this broke redneck.

That's what I'm waiting for them to hit around $450-500 and I'll pull the trigger so to speak.

I should've specified and said brass .223. My ar doesn't like steel case.

You need 223/5.56 and 9mm for when DHS comes for your guns. That way when you defend yourself against them you can use their ammo.

ETA: I guess blackheli isnt working.

I have a 9 and a 40 and the AR. I just cant believe that 7.62 and mags can still be had for the ak, while nothing worth touching is available for the AR.

I just thought it was my work filter killing the image.

Its the image man, the AK is the "bad guy" weapon, while the AR is what we send our boys to go fight with so everybody wants it.

Also, not sure where you're located, but Simmons' in Monroe was advertising 1k round cases for $499. Not awesome, but not too bad either.

AK over AR
If money wasn't a factor, I'd prefer high end AR over AK. However, taking everything into consideration (pricing, reliability, ease to find parts/accessories/ammo)...I'd go the route of an AK- only if you can find one at a decent price. Definitely not 900+ for a bargain AK.

I'm in Shreveport. The bad guy image is what kept me from buying one I guess. I wanted an "American" rifle. Same reason I want a 1911.
