No I know that Chad, my point was that we are in an advantageous position now to take a top safety if they come to us, even if we traded back. If not take BPA, and then we could free up the cap room with harper still designating post june 1. There would be no point to release him now until we know what we have after the draft. Just think it increases the likelihood.
ETA: If we don't draft one, he stays put, no harm done.

We wouldn't save the money until June 1st either way. Makes no sense to cut him now unless we really need $1 mil(and even then there are better options).
But I don't see Harper going anywhere this year. Next year is going to be the year he extends or gets cut.
Leonhard is here to push the backups(mostly Bush) and for vet depth and special teams. If we draft a safety Jenkins(who'd save us $2.5 mil) would be the one in trouble.
