Now that it's been a while and everyone has had some time, what do you currently think of penn state?

I saw a guy today in a penn state shirt and I instantly thought "Ped state" and imagined the pedobear/penn state logo. The logo to me is a symbol for all that went wrong, if i see it anywhere i think of what happened.

I just can't still think positively at all about the university. Is this how it is for some of yall? How long do you think it will take until penn state and Sandusky aren't instantly in the same thought? Any other events that happened in the past make you still think negatively about a school still years later?

Not a flame at all, just curious.

I think it's a good academic school with a strong football history that has a blemish on its record

to be honest, I thought the mob mentality by most towards Penn State was fricking pathetic.

Sandusky will rot in prison for the rest of his life and Joe Pa is dead. So.. in a way I thought what ended up happening to Penn State was unfair.

When I see their logo I instantly think of Sandusky but realize shortly after that that is in the past and think of them as a good school

Makes me think bad of the people that used to be in control of the athletics program there, not the entire university. I have a ton of respect for the players that stayed along with their new coaches.

I became a Penn State football fan because of the NCAA penalties, which I thought were too severe.

Some say Penn State football will not be relevant for a long time because of the penalties. I hope the program proves those naysayers wrong.

I think Penn State is terrific!

Homerism aside, most of our fan base has gotten over the initial shock, and we are moving forward. I can only give an exasperated sigh when an Internet Tough Guy spouts nonsense, but it is happening less now.

Harry Carey: Please stop being mad. We've had decades of chanting in unison (cultist reference), now we just put it to tune.

The Sandusky scandal looms extremely large for me... at least when it comes to PSU athletics and their administration.

If I met a student from PSU I'd be wondering most of the time whether or not they were one of those idiots rioting when Paterno was finally fired.

It honestly never crosses my mind. I don't incorporate anything to any school except if it had an impact on my life. I see a bunch of mud when I see Penn State haha.

Well if it can be compared to Ole Miss and race relations then it will probably be a long damn time.

It is the first thing that comes to mind when I see something or someone related to Penn State, but I quickly dismiss the thought and sympathize with them because of my school's somewhat similar struggles with stigma.

ETA: The above alliteration was unintended, but impressive all the same.

Y'all's attachment to the Confederate Battle Flag for so long has a lot to do with that. Well that and Mississippi's overall track record with race relations...

The messed up part of that is that Ole Miss students and faculty deserve better.
