Or do Boxers just make too much.

It seem like the best fighter in the UFC will only make around 5-15 mil in their entire careers while the best boxers make a hell of a lot more.

Supply and demand really. UFC fighters fight a ton and most don't dominate for long. If a boxer becomes a big ticket item, they won't fight but once a year if that...and if you want them to fight someone decent you have to pay them way more.

The lower tier guys do. They might get $5K for a fight but have to pay for camp , coaches etc. and not even break even. Lotta those guys have full time jobs on the side

1). It's hard to tell what someone like JJ will make throughout his career (because the sport is growing rapidly), but he has probably already made more than 15 million. If not, he will easily by the time he is 30.

2). How many boxers are making 20+ million right now?

3). How many boxers are getting paid $300 per fight or less?

4). Boxing has been around for a long arse time

5). I'd rather be some random ufc fighter over some random boxer, that's for damn sure

Isnt the UFCs floor pay (lowest they can pay a fighter to fight) one of the highest in any fighting sport?

I may be pulling that out my arse but i thought i remember reading that

Yeah, I don't think they get screwed, but I'm sure a lot of them don't quit Their day jobs.

I think the bare minimum to show is either $6,000 or $8,000. Then they at least double that up with a win. That's more than many make in 6 months

GSP has said that a fight earns him between 4-5 million. Obviously that is after disclosed salary, sponsors, bonuses, and a ppv share. That said it seems reasonable to think that top guys like GSP and Jones will earn well above $15 million during their careers.

Obviously there is a substantial gap between these top guys and your middle of the road fighters.

Jones has more money then that. The big time guys make a killing with sponsorship money.

I don't believe that at all. He will probably get paid 4+ mill for his next fight alone (when you factor in ppv, nike, other endorsements/advertisements, etc)

Jon Jones probably has $4 million worth of guns & rifles alone

Well if they make mroe than a mil a fight it's defintely because of endorsement, because Dana White screws the shite out of these fighters.

No MMA fighters make what Pacquiao, Mayweather and the Klitschkos make but the best UFC fighters make far more than 5-15 million a fight

I was just wonderign because I look at all these sites where they show some of the best fighters', past and present, net worth and the most I've seen is 15 mil.

I think its also important to point out that once youre actually in the UFC, it is a billion times easier to become a top guy than it is in Boxing. You win enough times and youll get your title shot (although im afraid this year theyve let guys talk there way into title fights too many times) and a shot at big time money, while boxers can have 40-50 fights before theyre recognized as a big fighter that pulls those insane numbers some boxers make.

The top guys in the UFC can hve anywhere from 10-30 fights depending on age

You're only seeing the "disclosed" salary. Top guys get a share of ppv revenue, they get paid bonuses, etc.

I agree, sometimes the compensation seems low, but some of the top guys aren't exactly getting screwed.

I thought it was interesting when ESPN ran a story with that slant a few months ago.

I believe Dana White appropriately called them on that... by pointing out ESPN was televising boxing matches in which the fighters were being compensated at a small fraction of the appearance fees his fighters receive.

Not at all. Not everyone can be a prize fighter, but any goober with a gym bag and tap out shirt is a mixed martial artist in training.
