Why Did Kentucky Pitch to Katz?

I had trouble understanding this one. Two outs with a base open and you pitch to the hottest hitter in the country. Making decisions like that, will lose you games. Regardless, I loved it! 
and I'm sure everyone saw it coming.
Kentucky still had 3 more innings to scratch across 4 runs.

Pitching around is harder than intentionally walking a batter. Looked like the pitcher caught too much plate.
