Is Chris Davis for real now?

As a ranger fan always knew he had power but now he's rearing it up and not on my team! 4 hr, 1 in four straight games and 16 RBI wow...has he finally filled his potential? Or just fluke few games?

Best minor league player I've ever seen in person.

When he's hot he's really hot, when he's off he's really off. He strikes out too much and doesn't get enough walks to be an elite hitter, but when he gets locked in it's something to see.

when he goes cold he goes ICE COLD

He was solid when he got consistent ABs with the Rangers when he first broke in. People on this board always doubted him, calling him a AAAA player. Frick them clueless fricksticks

One of those 27-year-old breakouts who put it together after gaining experience and consistent playing time.

Yeah. He'll still strike out a lot but I think his days of huge cold streaks are over(no jinx).

Everyone strikes out a lot these days anyway.

After his initial call up, he hit 227/283/407 in 511 at bats. He struck out 190 times, which is nearly 40% of his at bats. I don't think the Rangers were stupid, as a contender, for trading him away for bullpen help. That's a pretty long trial, and a lot of at bats. The guy was helpless against breaking stuff.
Some guys just need a change of scenery. He's a good guy and he seemed as baffled by his struggles in the Majors. He wouldn't have been the first guy who couldn't hit a Major League curveball but feasted on decent pitchers in AAA.
He did hit 270/326/501 last year, which is pretty decent. I'd like to see him add the walks he had in the minors, but I could live with those numbers. He essentially got the chance to play every day and work through his struggles because the Orioles were not expected to be nay good and could afford to wait like the Rangers couldn't. Basically, hes Hee Seop Choi given a lineup spot.
I don't really believe there is such thing as a AAAA player. I use the term as a shorthand for guys who tore up the minors but for whatever reason never got a fair shot in the Majors. Bill James calls them the Ken Phelps All-Stars, but that term is too cumbersome. I just go with AAAA, but I don't like the negative connotations with the term.
I'm glad CD got the shot. He's a fun player.

I went to the game last year where he went 0-7 with 4k's then got the win as the pitcher in the 17th.
He ended up having a solid season last year. I don't think he'll be a perennial all star or anything but last season established him as a pretty solid major league starter.

This should definitely be renamed after Mike Coolbaugh. It would be a cool tribute and a nicer way for baseball to remember him.

That bullpen help lasted all of a season and a half, and he sucked that first half
Daniels gives up on people too quickly yet keeps wastes of space like Moreland around. Davis, O'Day and Strop are all doing great for Baltimore right now
