$11M is overpaying but only by a million or two. If we can somehow trade gordon, then overpaying for him by a little was not a bad move.

if paying reke $11M per is overpaying, then this board would never be happy with a FA signing

If it's not a top 5 player, then the vocal minority is gonna sound off. Peli-tards. I like the signing, based on reke's potential, FWIW

fwiw Evans is considered one of the top 10 free agents to get right now. I like the deal too if it gets signed

Still want Iggy, or else an above average big man to play and allow Davis to move around and block some shots

No they won't. They/we complain about almost everyone. If you aren't a true superstar or on a minimum deal then you're overpaid.

also, you must be acquired in conjunction with draft picks!

I'll wait until all the moves are made before I decide if moving Lopez to make room for Evans is a good/bad idea.

Not everyone will. People still have trouble accepting that we traded Jarrett Jack for Robin Lopez.

also, we ain't winnin a title next year. i almost made that thread yesterday

ok so we have an improved team but shitty center play for a year. we will NEVER have another offseason to sign an option at the 5

I kind of think Evans is a long play on moving Gordon which is going to lather up the masses while it works itself out. Maybe he works out at SF but he's better suited to replace Gordon once Gordon's value increases. You can keep Gordon's minutes down and efficiency up without looking suspicious and you also make it to where Gordon seems like a luxury to you and you want to trade him rather than you have to trade him. I just can't believe Demps' long term plan is to have a $40 million backcourt.

Yeah, when you have so many holes to fill, like the Pelicans did this offseason, it takes more than one move and usually more than one offseason to get the talent where you want it.

But the talent on this team is definitely improving.

we could still keep Lopez and pay some luxury tax $ correct? Lopez at $5mil just seems like a good bargain for a serviceable C.

i'd imagine to legitimately compete, we'll have to have a salary in the $65-70M range eventually

with a max for davis and some exception signings, that's possible. it just takes time. we'd have a relatively balanced salary-positional breakdown (esp if evans does play some 3)

that'd be like $30M at the 4/5 and $40M at the 1/2/3
