Has the Hornets Board discussed Tyreke Evans lately?

he seems like he's a great potential option in FA. he's been killing it this year and can play 1-3

the biggest worry is that he's killing it only to get that fat contract, but that's a worry with most guys who would consider us

also, i think he's a RFA

What happened to make him fall off so quickly? He was supposed to be a star and now you never hear about him. Is it just a product of being on the Kings? If he can be a full-time 3 then I'd like having him.

I get that he plays off ball a decent amount, but I don't know if I trust someone that's never had better than a 2:1 assist to TO ratio to run the point. He also can't really stretch the floor (having his best season by far from 3 and he's only at 33%), so signing him would leave us desperate for a SF that can.

He's been brought up peripherally in some of the threads. He still does most of his damage getting to the rim but he has improved his 3p% to 33%. Is he big enough to play SF on defense full time? If so he's a guy that would let you keep Vasquez at PG.

His defensive rating is only one point better than Vasquez's (111 to 112)

That entire team plays no defense so that could be a product of the system. Tyreke is certainly athletic enough to be a good defender. He might just need the right coaching.

Which means we would have to overpay for Tyreke Evans.

Would that be Monty, though? Rivers and Miller's defense have improved drastically, and AD has gotten a bit better with assignments, but none of the other younger but still relatively inexperienced players (Vasquez, Aminu, EG, Lopez, Ryno), which is what evans would be, have improved defensively since coming here. It looks like Monty may need to get them really young to have an impact.

What about at the 1? And do they have how many minutes he played at SF?

A ridiculous 35.3 to 10.1, but it's a small sample size because they list him with 0% of the minutes at PG
36% of SG minutes
12% of SF minutes

I think Monty could get more out of him because it's hard not to buy in when the rest of the team has. That being said is an offensively focused player with a Diva rep going to become a lockdown defender? Monty probably can't make that happen any more than he can make Gordon start rebounding. But just being adequate on defense while being an offensive threat would change the team dynamic dramatically.

Basketball-wise I think he'd help the team, the main question with Evans is would he be worth the cost.

Bitch better LOVE playing the full-time 3 for an $11m per contract he did nothing to earn.

Either that or they plan on using him to replace Gordon. No indication of that yet, though.

$11M per isn't really overpaying for Evans. when i made this thread in April i'd have assumed he'd go for 10-20% more
