I plan to buy a house soon. I have a few relatives who are mortgage originators; would it be a jerk move to apply for financing with each of them and then go with the best deal?

No, it would be a smart business decision

Easiest way to screw some familial relationships up is to use them to do business. Ask for advice. Don't ask them to do business with you.
Used to do it myself. Huge mistake.

We've never had any serious issues.
Each family is different.
To the OP: Yes. If you're comfortable with it, do it. Any family member that gets upset with you for choosing your best financial option, sucks.
