Did you file a police report? They don't do shite about it, but it's better than wondering.

They're not going to go searching the streets for a tailgate, but if it shows up, they'll know who it belongs to. Also, he is probably required to file a police report to file an insurance claim.

Anyone got more info about this hose clamp dealy? Maybe a picture or two? The bolts in my tailgate come loose just from riding on logging roads a bunch
I just went look at mine and even took a couple pics since I'm a good OB'er. You'd just wrap a hose clamp around the pivot on the right side making it to where you have to remove the clamp to be able to remove the tailgate. So now a 60 second theft job just turned into more of a pain in the arse because they'd have to A) figure out why the frick it won't just pop right off and B) once they figure it out have the tools/time to remove it.

Someone stole my boss's tailgate from the work parking lot. He didn't lock it (Toyota).
I own a Chevy......it's got no lock

Yep, this was actually the first time I heard of the hose clamp trick but knew exactly how to do it once someone mentioned it. The right side is the side that has the slit on it to remove it. I'm probably going to pick up some clamps to do this tonight.

Hi there, slowpoke. I'd like to welcome you to the page of the dictionary where the word context is defined.
Do you ankle-biters get some sort of gratification out of being tools?

Buddy of mine had his tailgate stolen at a boat ramp last year. He called the police so he could get a report for his insurance. The officer said it was pretty common at that boat ramp and that he was actually lucky the last call he got someone had stolen a transmission out of a Silverado while the owner was fishing. Can you imagine dropping the transmission out of a truck in a parking lot and not getting caught.

I got my entire stereo system stolen at the cross lake public launch a few years ago...2 in the afternoon on Saturday while the parking lot was packed with people. I mean PACKED.
Funny thing was, I had about 1500 worth of golf clubs in the bed, which weren't touched. Going out on a limb and say these were not the "golfing type".

Reminds me of the time that my left windshield wiper was stolen early in the morning at the One Lake Shore Apartment complex on Stanford. Who the hell does that crap.
