Rhymes 2012 and Bregman 2013 - hits/avg

Through 34 games:
2012 Rhymes 53 for 114, .465
2013 Bregman 63 for 142, .444
Rhymes sustained a head injury in game #31 against Florida, and missed the following three games. He finished with 100 hits and a .431 avg in 61 games.
So far LSU has played 34 games, and Bregman hasn't slowed down. He could very well put together a 100 hit season, but there's a lot of good teams left to play.
LSU Records
110 hits - Brandon Larson
.431 avg - Raph Rhymes

Pretty remarkable numbers. Bregman brings more in power and base stealing than Rhymes did, but overall the season are very similar.

Yeah, Rhymes was slugging .574 and Bregman is slugging .617
The offense has been really fun to watch so far with the middle of the order doing so well

Think Bregman gets to 100 hits?
Yes, barring injury, should get there pretty easily. LSU should play around 70 games by the time it's all said and done, so he has roughly 42 games to get 47 hits.

LSU should play around 70 games
Yes, we played 65 last season without winning the SEC tourney or going to Omaha. As good as we have been so far, it's tough to predict Omaha, but we have as good of a chance as anyone.
So 70 games is a reasonable number

Slugging% doesn't show it but Bregman is hitting for much more power than Rhymes did.

I'm not trying to take away from Larson, he is one of my all time favorites...I just think batting records are moot with the bat changes.

Key stat...Bregman is a freshman..insane.

Comparing Larson to Bregman is completely different. Larson batted close to 400 but he had more RBI's than hits. He was always trash pitched even when they gave him something to hit. Now, Larson and Katz are very similar at the plate. If the bats didn't change, Katz would have even better numbers.
Katz and Larson both have similar slugging percentages. Larson was likely a little quicker on the bases, but Katz has a better eye at the plate. Larson would strike out more, whereas Katz is much more patient.
The best part is Bregman will be here for another 2.5 years.
