I always do. I grill my steaks outside and it seems to help with the sear.
I usually make a blend of sweet cream butter, crushed garlic, fresh rosemary and a bit of Worcestershire that I re-chill. I melt it over the steak during the resting period.
My wife only likes filet and this treatment is necessary as filets are pretty bland. Bone-in ribeye if my favorite cut.

Thanks to all for the help. I applied just salt and pepper, no oil. They came out superb.
