Honestly it depends on the champ. Velkoz and Annie can carry a game easy just by doing retarded damage. However trying to carry a game as Alistair or Braum is fricking miserable. The best they can do is peel for an ADC that may or may not be competent. I like mid because carrying from there is so easy. Cass and Swain do retarded damage and peel for themselves without being completely useless if the other team picks Vi or J4.

I understand what you are saying, but you rely on the rest of your team to follow up on your actions as a support for the most part. Supports in general are there to 'support' not carry. This does not mean supports can't win the game for the team, it's just often more difficult.

For example: your team is off running around playing patty-cake with the other team and the wolf camp. You split push because you're going to take objectives or no one will. It's easier to split and take towers as jinx, zed or trundle, than it would to split as nami, braum or janna.
