Friend of mine, basically still a kid is a captain at this lodge in Elfin Cove. He was showing me some pics and vids today, pretty awesome.
Anyway, Cabelas outdoors had a program called "Wanna Go Fishing" where they hook people up with fishing trips. This particular episode was a soldier injured in Afghanistan. Long vid, but pretty cool. Garrett is the captain, Gordy shown on the vid is the former lodge owner. He takes them out to fish, go look for bears and puts them on top of some whales.
Garrett is actually thinking about leaving the biz after this summer, and I am telling him he is nuts...
Last summer he hooked up with Roman Abramovich's yacht (I've seen the pics) and took those guys fishing.
Pretty cool life for a young, early 20 something captain. He is working for me this winter.

Awesome place on the northern end of Chichagof Island, across from Glacier Bay NP.

I need to move this trip up on the list of places to visit. I need to let the baby get a little bigger so she can go also...

It's a cool little fishing town about a 40 minute float plane ride from Juneau. I'm gonna go visit him this summer and stay at the lodge.

He took these guys out fishing once, and took this pic. This is he MV Luna, one of the worlds largest superyachts.
I think he must have a girl here in town, can't see any other reason to leave that kind of business.

That's a beautiful photo, Roger. I'd love to live in Alaska...just don't think I could leave all my family...wife included.

That's a bad arse video. Our freedom fighters deserve this! My parents went to Alaska in 2010 and I want to go one day and catch some fish. I could wait and take my son in a few years. He's 4 and loves fishing.

Yeah I thought it was pretty cool. Garrett told me about it today

He's got a couple out there, different lengths. Elfin Cove is just a collection of fishing lodges and it's right on the edge of outer waters. You need a pretty substantial boat to handle the swells from the Gulf of Alaska.
It's a beautiful location. The mountains across the straight are the highest coastal range in the world, the Fairweather Range. Some wild arse country points north of there.
