I say get a DAC even if you believe your stream is clean. I didn't believe my stream was full of noise until using my Modi.

So if this e10 comes in and I notice zero different in noise reduction, will it be because my DAC isn't good enough?

Not exactly, on board audio has improved so much over the year and I know you already know this. Your MPower is a top of the line Z87 board and MSI went the extra mile with audio this refresh. Im saying that from the outside looking in, but it has received great reviews.

Actually, since e10 is an amp/dac you can't really isolate the dac for comparison vs inboard audio.

You should get an improvement though, and if you are happy then stick with it

I can't speak for what you may or may not hear through more expensive audio equipment. Audio is very subjective. I'd be willing to let you borrow some of my DACs to try yourself if the e10 doesn't work out.

If your onboard audio is good though, improvement will be less noticeable

If you are primarily using the phones in a noisy environment, I would've went with closed or semi open cans. Open back headphones want a silent enviroment
