All that crap is just rebranded. Look the PSU world... lol Almost all PSUs are exactly the same or made by the same manufacturer but we have 1000000+ different brands.

Sorry to derail this topic but..

The upcoming console launches, how small is the hype compared to the PS3/XBOX360 launch? I remember the PS3 launch and the rarity of finding the system back in 2006 shaking the fabric of our culture.

I think consoles will go by the wayside sooner than later. In fact, I think this is the last true gen of stand alone gaming consoles as we know them.

PC gaming will also keep growing IMO as technology to play these games keeps getting cheaper. You can build a $500 PC and play any game out there. Might not be maxed FPS at 1080p but you can still play them.

I also believe that but in different terms.

Cloud Gaming will take over consoles. The gen after the PS4/XBOne will be nothing more than a "roku" type of device.

That had more to do with how many units were shipped. Someone posted in the PS4 thread how one factory had produced 1 million units to ship, which I don't remember being the case in 2006.

Yea I agree. I didn't specifically say that but that is my thought process as well.

I fear that game streaming may be the thing that ultimately kills PC gaming as well but it's still a decade plus out from completely taking over int he USA because of our slow arse speeds and rural area no access.

I remember there was a ton of hype surrounding the PS3 launch, because at the time, you couldn't get a Blu-Ray player for less than $900-$1000. So the PS3 was set to be the cheapest Blu-Ray player available (on top of the fact that it played games, of course).

Assuming the ISPs don't kill game streaming.

That's why I said it is a decade plus out from being a huge factor. The USA networks suck and ISPs are fricking greedy. It will take more shite like Google Fiber to force ISPs hands into upgrading, expanding, and offering unlimited service.

Need someone to challenge the cell industry and data plan limits as well so maybe unlimited data on 4G LTE speeds will frick some ISPs over.

Basically, I want every ISP in America to get caught up to the rest of the fricking world already and if not then let the free market reign and they die off.

Man even in a ps4 homer thread UH is above and beyond... I don't remember the hype well from the previous generation because I was a casual madden/ncaa gamer then but it was pretty awesome to get a blu ray player in my ps3.

Are SSD prices finally dropping again? There are a shite load of 120 and 128GB SSDs on sale today for around $80 give or take.

I don't know. I was still seeing them last week for $120 for 120GB. The only ones less that $1 per GB were in the 240GB plus range but even those have came down some more too.

I see some 480GB for $280 now.

A couple of the name brand SSD have been on sale at the 3 big size points, 120, 240, 480 for at least a couple weeks now. They just seem to rotate which ones are on sale

Man, the agility series isn't the best SSD out there but $269 is tempting as hell for 480GB

Dat recommended vram. Conflicts with recommended GPUs

Even Crysis 3 only recommended 1GB. If this is true, could be an indicator of what kind of video cards we need to look at. I've been secretly frowning upon 2GB cards for a while now.
