Possible Spoilers if turns out to be true.

I read a mention of this a few weeks ago and now some "credible" yet anonymous sources are confirming that

Lex Luthor will be in Man of Steel.

"not only will Luthor be in the film, and not only will he be “an ambitious, ego driven and cold version,” but also which actor has been cast in the role"

"Mackenzie Gray"

He actually played a Luthor clone in Smallville.

LINK

I don't know much about the actor but with the other two actors cast, its not a stretch that they'd go with this guy. They're not exactly going with mega stars other than Amy Adams and Fishburne.

I guess we'll see.

ETA:

AICN reporting it too

I sure would love a superman movie without Lex Luthor.

Just had a thought...they could save a ton on makeup/effects if they just cast Mickey Rourke as Bizarro. He looks like him anyway...

If they do it right, I guess I don't care but I was just fine with them just showing Luthor existed in that world, kinda like Norman Osborn in Amazing Spiderman, and introduce him in a sequel.

If this turns out to be true, for them to have hidden it this long, he must just have a smaller part.

Still want Braniac in the sequel.

I really think Luthor will only be mentioned in Man of Steel, similar to how the Joker was at the end of Batman Begins.

Luthor doesn't have to be the main antagonist to be effective. Personally I'd just set up him in the Presidential election and getting elected for denouncing Superman's presence, and then he'd be a more formidable opponent for Superman in the sequels when he has the power of the US military at his disposal. Luthor has yet to be portrayed correctly on the big screen since he typically only has retarded real estate schemes and isn't remotely threatening.
