I think Coach tries to get one of the graduating transfers who can come in and play next year. Hopefully a guard. There are about 6 uncommitted 6'+ guards uncommitted. Deadline to sign is May 21 so we should know in the next week.

Deadline to sign is May 21 but that doesn't affect anything tbh. Just like Wiggins last year. It simply means these kids could leave but since most enroll in summer school, it doesn't matter anyway. Odds are, this transfer would have to take summer classes there to graduate anyway. Often the case. So signing isn't really feasible for them.

That just doesn't make any damn sense unless Hickey was a terrible teammate.

Not disagreeing with you, I just don't get what Jones is doing here. I'd much rather he show loyalty to his own players than replace them with one year of a graduate transfer.

Wish I could coach kids. Got a passion for trying to motivate them and keep em focused. My stepson plays up a year and is on the 11th grade team

There is a quote somewhere that maybe South can dig up... asked about leaders for the upcomming season CJJ listed Jarell and Jordan... NOT his senior PG. He's never been a leader, will never be one. It's just who he is. Had a ton of strikes with the staff... not just 3.

Gotcha, Tell Warren I said wassup. He could use Cody Cambre and Christion Thompson right about now.

Hickey and Coach Jones never saw eye to eye. Jones strongly enforces the concept of being a student athlete. Hickey is a good kid who did many good things, but he would skip class, skip study sessions and wasn't doing well with his classes.

I think Jones was tired of dealing with a player who wouldn't follow the rules.

The only reason I am taking about a grad transfer is we don't want to take a so-so guy who would take up a scholarship next year. We would want a 1 yr guy or noone because we have a good shot at a big class next year.

Just to play devil's advocate here but I really think Johnny's APR will be pretty bad here with all these transfers

Alex Owens will be a monster on the collegiate level. I don't know what some of you are looking at.

As long as he gets his conditioning right then yes. Watched him all weekend and spoke to some E1T1 staff about him. Terrible diet and doesn't currently want to change that (should change in college). I have some concerns about his size and athleticism for position. He appears to be a center (jump shot is awful right now).

The actual transfer doesn't hurt APR at all. It's just about being in good standing. From the looks of it, Johnny isn't going to let a player hurt APR and play on his team. Obviously he continued to try and get Hickey into class and study sessions and he wasn't attending.

I'm sure it will be fine. APR doesn't mean anything unless it's so low that you get probation or sanctions. We will be good.

Didn't we recently get a perfect APR single year score for basketball? I think that buys us a little wiggle room. And may not be completely coincidental to Hickey losing his spot.

ETA: Yep, our multi year is 955, which already gives us wiggle room. But we just got a 1000 for the most recently scored year. We'll be fine with the APR.

Still a decent list of transfers still out there... We may be much better than last season. Trust God, then trust John.

I wouldn't mind trying to kick the tires with Byron Wesley. Averaged nearly 18 a game last year for USC. Considering Oklahoma State (lost cause), Gonzaga (meh), and Pittsburgh.

Also, didn't realize Brian Williams is going to Lafayette

I'm guessing on that list, if they are graduating they can play immediately while the others have to sit a year correct?
