13 years old, West Monroe vs St Aug at West Jeff. My dumbass Dad brought a Rebel flag. There was a drive by in the parking lot during the national anthem. Only time I've ever been scared at an athletic event.

Cousin played WR for WM that year. Actually caught the only pass for WM in the dome that year (csb). Didnt go but my dad says there were gunshots heard throughout the entire game and that the visiting side was pretty much all white and home all black.

Never, ever go to Fedex Field.

Really? I don't like the Skins, but I have been to 2 Saints games up there, and only once did one of their fans even say a negative thing about the Saints, and that was some old man in a wheelchair.
One of the games was Saint victory and another a loss.
I honestly would be interested to know what happened to cause you to say that.

I had a blast in Morgantown. The girl students were the biggest trash talkers and as long as you didn't say something mean back to them , you weren't gonna have problems. The WVU alumni we ran into were awesome. Free beer and food all day long.

Morgantown shouldn't be a scary proposition for any team's fans outside of Virginia, Maryland and Pittsburgh. For some reason - There's bad juju there.

I've been a few times when I was younger and never saw anything that bothered me. Most LSU fans had nothing but good things to say. Same with all the TCU fans I know who made the trip last year.

I've been to one Dallas v Philly game back in the old Cowboy stadium... I don't think I'd like to do the same in Philly.

In high school

we had a few bricks thrown at our bus as we left the stadium after we got beat by the eventual 5A state champion Blount Leopards in 1998.

lost 41-0.

but when you played in Prichard Stadium, shite like that wasn't shocking.

i don't think anyone was "fearing for their life" but I remember wondering why in the hell would we get fricked with after getting our arse kicked so bad.

Prichard is a city right next to Mobile. That town has produced some of the best talent to ever come out of this area but ahhh.... that field has always been a shithole. And their fans or who ever it was that would harass a team like what they did to us just sucked at life.

FYP

And you are pretty spot on. Years of bad blood with certain schools got to the point where basically they would come to Morgantown middle fingers in the air, and we would respond in kind.

I heard nothing but good things from Big12 folks who made it to WV this year - even from the ones who admittedly were nervous based on our reputation for punching babies.

That's fun for a change up, but nothing satisfies quite like uppercutting a baby.

our local team played the team from dresden germany which is basically eastern europe and they came here saying the would start shite and did. Our Ultras are pretty bad and they wanted to test that.

A guy who went to a couple games with my group thats been stationed here a while was telling us about he went to an away game in frankfurt who is the big rival and they pulled the e-stop on the train when the came up on a stop with all the frankfurt fans rushed out the train and chaos went down.

I have thought for years about going to a Celtic-Rangers match and still can't decide if it is worth the risk.

shite. I was thinking basketball for me. At my high school it got very heated throughout playoff games and there were usually fights after. I guess not incredibly fearful for my life there. But when we went down to some inner-city Milwaukee high school, shite got real At schools like Madison high school and Bradley Tech high school you could barely focus on the game at all.

i just couldn't do it. I grew up a huge UNC fan. My Mom, Cousin, and Uncle are all alumni. Dad grew up 10mins from campus and i was born there. The day i stepped on the WVU campus that was my school. I still had my UNC stuff and cheered from them. When WVU played UNC in a bowl game there was no question who i wanted to win. I was in my WVU gear with my younger cousin sitting with 4 other family members in UNC gear.

In Scotland there are 2 main soccer clubs. The Rangers and Celtics. The former tied to Protestant and the latter tied to Catholics. For some reason that is still a really big deal there. Going to an away game is something similar to Green Street Hooligans. I sure as hell wouldn't do it. lol.
