When do you think Lebron's talent start to decline and not be an MVP candidate? I think at about age 32 he won't be in the MVP discussion anymore

It's a really good question.

The way he's developed his post game, he can likely extend being in the discussion to his mid 30s.

if he keeps working on his post game he could easily still be an elite player at 35. the mvp discussion part depends on how good of a team he is on at that age

His athleticism will start to decline in the next few years but that may not be immediately obvious to most because his starting point is so remarkable. So yes, there's a limited period of time when he will be able to run the floor like he does today. If he is able to refine his post up game he could be a MVP candidate into maybe his mid 30s but I think by then Kevin Durant and probably others will have passed him by as superior players

49, and even then the board will still talk daily about Lebron vs Kobe

He is 28 and he's still improving. Moreover, he doesn't appear to have lost any athleticism whatsoever. I can't reasonably foresee a drop-off in his game within the next five years.

he's been lucky not to get hurt 10 years in and miss any large chunk of time.

It's hard to believe LeBron is already 28 and this is his 10th season.. and we're already having threads like this. It seems like just yesterday watching his high school games on ESPN. Was that really 2003?

Who's out there to really challenge him? Durant and who else?

Plus he's a genetic freak who is still athletic. Probably a good five more years before we even start talking about him slowing down/losing a step/etc.

Lebron does make some violent movements on the court. He plants hard and explodes to the rim. But his game has slowed down, and he relies on his skill most of the time rather than his raw physical ability. As he gets older he won't have to really on pressing the beast mode button to get the job done on the court.

Something else to think about;
Kobe at age 36 is more athletically explosive than MJ was at that age, thanks to the increase in sports medicine prevention and rehab techniques. In 7 or 8 yrs Lebron could be playing like a 32 yr old instead of a 35 yr old.
