re: Jindal cancels Medicaid contract

Please see recent rulings involving Jindal's proposed legislation that has recently been deemed unconstitutional by the courts.

re: Jindal cancels Medicaid contract

Failing to get the required 2/3 votes per the Louisiana Constitution and was found unconstitutional. Involved added cost of retirement.

Taking money from the MFP and giving to private entities (including those that Chaz Roemer's immediate family has ties) when the constitution clearly forbids taking public monies and giving to private schools and was found to be unconstitutional.

The entire bill that dealt with his "educational overhaul" in which he put too many items, which alone could not have all passed, into one bill and that too was recently ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Essentially all of the items that he used to "campaign" for V.P. that he haphazardly pushed through the legislative process for resume purposes. Also, it is worth noting that in all three bills Jindal was warned of the constitutional flaws.

Wouldn't it be reasonable to infer if revocation was based on the amendment, the K would have been revoked earlier? I guess it is all coincidental

It's no coincidental. Follow the money. The initial issue you stated was always in the public forefront yet the contract continued on thin ice. When the newly proposed costs exploded recently things went south quickly.

Initially there was DENIAL of the department head having ANYTHING to do with the K. I do agree the issue has been scrutinized since the inception of the k. However, it was only recent that the development arose implicating the the department head in the the development of the K. The main issue is that originally he denied any involvement, but now there is evidence to the contrary.

Happens ALL. THE. TIME.

LA Bid law says you have to go with the lowest responsible bidder. Responsible often means all of your paperwork is filled out correctly.

I've bid work and RFP's with the state, albeit in a construction standpoint. This kind of stuff happens all the time. It sucks.

The implication here, is that sometimes the politicians let a particular bidder know that he can come in low just to win the bid, then they'll change the terms of the contract afterwards so that it is more profitable.

For instance, a large contract to outsource OGB is being worked on. The intended winner is BenefitFocus, but the RFP hasn't even been made public yet. They will be the low bidder.

This sort of thing is normal in Louisiana and Chicago, but Cazayoux will need to establish that either Greenstein, Jindal, or the GOP benefitted directly as a result of the bid-rigging. I doubt Jindal is that sloppy.

There was evidence on day one.

I wouldn't take for granted that Jindal isn't that sloppy. Look at his bills from last session if you want to see sloppy.

As stated earlier this happens all the time and FI's struggle with the reality of states accepting the lowest bidder when writing their proposals.

The next issue is states usually don't understand their own requirements in the RFPs THEY submit.

So the FI comes in with a project plan (required in the proposal) that explodes because of scope creep. It happens everywhere.

However, in this instance, the project started out on thin ice. Combine that with other complicating factors within the project itself and you end up with what happened. I think alot of people on both sides saw this coming IMO (maybe not as SOON though).

I agree there was evidence on day one. Evidence is a lose term. Now there is sufficient evidence to link the causal connection that was not known day one. If there was and Jindal allowed it to go on this long, then there will be consequences for not acting Ina prudent manner

Jindal may be basically honest, but he is a typical politician, one extremely hungry to promote his own agenda. However, in the course of doing that, he's come close, in more than one contract, to crossing the line. Check out the contract that privatized the Office of Risk Mgt. The orginal contract was amended at least once to add on more money, like this one..and the original contract was for $20 million. Then that company turned around & sold the contract to another party, who subsequently sold it to another. Anyone curious bout how all those dots are connected?

I am not "in the know" as another member has purported be, but I understand the Office of Risk Management contract is being scrutinized at this present time.

I predict that this is one more time that the court will hand Jindal a decision that he "looks forward to a successful appeal."

re: Jindal cancels Medicaid contract

Bruce is taking after Bobby on this issue. He believes that disappearing will make all of this go away.

Unfortunately, that once worked for Bobby and his administration.

Not so much anymore. With Bobby's own party now realizing how unpopular and despised he is by the general public, even they are going against him.

I guess it is better late than never, but it sure would have been better for these legislators to have stood up earlier before he made such a mess of this state. It took the courts to begin this process by invalidating his unconstitutional bills.

It is worth noting that with ALL three bills that were found to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL and DHH contract, Jindal was warned of their illegality and still chose to continue.

I can finally say that I believe people are starting to see Jindal for the person that he is.(or isn't I should say)

The ORM contract is under review, but only after 2 yrs have passed & the original contact amended up to $60M. And that is not even getting into the quality of performance issues, of which there are many. Pure raw politics at its La. worst. The original company has made its money & is long gone from the scene, tho many of its administration are now working for the 3rd company to have the contract.

Yes but don't forget that Jindal really has Louisiana at heart in his business decisions. Yes that comment reeks if sarcasm. My main question is why has it taken so long for our lawmakers to realize how Jindal truly is?

re: Jindal cancels Medicaid contract

I truly believe in what goes around, comes around.

Remember Jindal turned his back on Romney as soon as the election was over and showed ZERO loyalty to him after he could no longer become a cabinet member and benefit from him.

Now the law makers are turning their back on him after originally supporting him.

Karma!!!
