A host of drug cheats from football and tennis could finally be exposed after the doctor who ran one of sport's largest blood-doping rings threatened to name all his former clients.

So far only 54 cyclists, including Alberto Contador, Ivan Basso, Jan Ullrich and Alejandro Valverde, have been personally implicated in the scandal.

The lack of information about other sports led observers to accuse the Spanish authorities of a cover-up as Fuentes has admitted to having worked with people in football, tennis, boxing and athletics.

He has said that cycling comprised just 30 per cent of his work.Fuentes’ change of heart came as an International Cycling Union lawyer urged the judge to show no leniency.

‘We are before the largest trial against a doping ring in sport, not just in Spain but possibly in the world,’ said Pablo Jimenez de Parga.

It explains how the Spanish have been so dominant in sports over the last few years. This thing might end up making the BALCO scandal seem like child's play by the time it's over.

Nadal comes to mind. Frankly, I think his "injury" thing really was an unofficial suspension by tennis.

Tennis has a huge drug problem, but they are hiding it like MLB and cycling.

Djokovic and Tipsarevic are definite cheats. Their rise in the ranks are the same as far as the years, though Djolovic was already a top-3/4 player when his play vaulted to another level.

It's like the ESPN doc 9.79. Everyone focused on Johnson and Canada and the whole field is doped and had been doped since the 70's...

It's always been a level playing field when you dope.

I just think Nadal is sort of obvious about it...like Canseco...i.e. bringing biceps to a sport that traditionally didn't have biceps...and the butt-picking. He's got to go for that alone.

I'm the total opposite. I just don't care. This is not the East German swim team in which all of the women now have tumors the size of golf balls.

I don't care either. And why anyone cares about what people that ride bicycles put into their bodies is beyond me.

You're right. Tennis would never be that bold and I even compared them to MLB and cycling, so it was a dumb thing to say.

Tennis loves their druggies and Nadal is one of them.

I wish they'd just let everyone in sports dope up. Make up a final product of freak specimens. Better entertainment.

They have suspended players for doping in the past. Thomas Muster immediately comes to mind.

He's the biggest name, and I agree with your sentiment that they have an incentive to protect certain players in order to preserve television ratings.

My PED argument has never changed. Let sanctioned doctors administer PEDs in a controlled and monitored setting, keeping everything above the table.

Disagree. The field is never on the same level and shouldn't be. It's what separates the greats from the rest.

Joker has little stamina, so give him drugs to help him compete?

Tipsaravic has little strength so give him drugs to help him compete?

Just two examples, but PEDs should never be sanctioned and players ought to be severely punished for the first violation.(Minimum year suspension and fines)

And Djokovic is one of the most obvious PED cheats in sports. His play would never be at this level if not for PEDs.

It's clear from your posts that you don't know much about PEDs.
