FBD was a LoverBeer D'uva at Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fa'.

Pretty good Italian sour ale. They had Cantillon Classic Gueuze on tap, but I opted to try something local. Very impressive vintage list (Cantillon, 3F, Westy, etc.) but nothing that was worth 60 euros to me with my wife watching.

Damn.

I don't think anyone is going to be able to top that. I'm finishing the bottle of JK Funk Metal while watching Ole Miss suck it up against Wisconsin.

They actually had a Jester King offering in bottles, along with a few other great American breweries like Green Flash, The Bruery, Hoppin Frog, and maybe a couple others.

I had read recently that Italy has a surprisingly large craft beer scene. really surprised me. Keep us posted on what you find.

Haha, it was tough though. They don't believe in a rectangular street grid here. It can be very disorienting but also lead you to some interesting spaces.

Just texted him.

I'm thinking that we'll probably sleep in to the last possible moment in the hotel and then make our way over there. I'll let you know when we head that way though.

Glad to hear they have a nice craft scene, would think they would be all about the wine.

Enjoy man.

Nothing yet. However, i did pick up a bottle of Cantillon Gueze from Calandro's yesterday. That and 2-12 oz. bottles of DR13.

Question on Cantillon. Is this one better consumed after aging? Should i put it straight in the beer cellar instead of the fridge?

ETA: I've never had cantillon, and i'm not big on sours. Probably because i haven't drank many.

It's already been aged for you. Good to drink right now.

Yes. My parents got back from europe the day before urinetrouble left. They brought me back a few treats from Rome.

I just told them to ask for some solid local brews. Was not dissapointed.

They have some fantastic bars as well.

Or you can wait 20 years or so. It'll age nicely.

eta: but like s14 says, it is good right now.

UT-- from the pic, it looks like you're at Open Baladin?

ETA: Obviously, I was wrong about the location. You should check out OB. They had the best selection of Italian craft brew I could find on my last visit.

Open Baladin
