I'm doing some smoked wings tonight...I'm thinking teriyaki with lots of fresh herbs, buffalo, and mustard BBQ. Got another flavor?

I've chopped it and used it in sauces before.

IMO "Red Velvet" is one of the biggest shams/most overrated things in the entire food kingdom.

I don't know much about this since I don't bake nor do I eat cake, but my mom always told me growing up that Red Velvet was dyed chocolate cake.

The red naming originally came from a reaction between the buttermilk, and vinegar bringing out the red in a older versions of cocoa - now you get the food coloring to live up to an outdated name.

And it's still delicious.

Good thing you didn't post this pic on the OT. They wouldn't be commenting on the cookies.

Why does anyone really give a shite about the name? It's cake. It's traditionally red using some sort of dye. It has to be called something. What about shite on a shingle? Toad in a hole? Pigs in a blanket? Scrapple? Baked Alaska? Possum pie doesn't have possum in it.

Man. People can always find something to bitch about.

Put a red velvet cake in front of me and tell me it's cherry pie and I'll eat it without complaint. I'd ask for a sugar free glass of milk with it but several on here would tell me there is no such thing as sugarless milk.

exactly.

Drives me crazy when people act like it's some luscious amazing dessert, or when a restaurant hypes it like it's something special.

Some people use beets. I don't know if that's still cheating, or what.
