Why are these black and white? Hell the building broke ground in '71 yet these pictures would make you think it was during the Great Depression.
That is a pretty damn cool pic.
I agree. Dixon's a hero.
We also have to give Louisiana Governor John McKeithen credit for getting the ball rolling in the state legislature and making sure it stuck. He fought off many challenges to it. Governor McKeithen and his political muscle is responsible for that Dome standing today.

I agree with you. My best guess is that it is a Times Picayune newspaper reporter photo, and, the paper only paid for black and white still photo film for their reporters.
You'd think that the Superdome would have had its own Public Relations people out there taking color publicity photos of the project, but, people in NOLA did not do things that way back then.
