Is there any movie that is better than the book?

The Stand (TV series)is nothing compared to the book. If HBO redid this as it can show violence and curse and nudity and everything it could be awesome as a 10 part mini-series, i think.
No Country was good, but the book destroys that movie.
Hunger Games is actually a pretty good book with some badass elements to it, all of which were left out of the movie.

Didn't we do this a couple months ago?
And yes, as good as the book was, Shawshank the movie was better.

The Godfather
pretty much the entire career of Alfred Hitchcock
Actually, there's a lot, but that's a good start.

Lord of the rings, though I've admittedly only read the first book

I'd agree with those.

I'll have to disagree with those.

Agree with that one as well.

The movies are good, but the books are better in my opinion.

I've never read the book, only seen the movie. The book must be a classic if it's that much better than the movie. I REALLY liked the movie, a lot of it is just so tense watching it unfold. Does the book capture that same feeling? What exactly makes the book better?
I might make that might next read.

The Natural...in the book, he strikes out at the end and loses everything.

I tend to agree that the book is better, but it is infinitely more disappointing when you watch the movie first.

I think it depends on the order you experience it. Most people I know that read the Trilogy first prefer it. Most people I know that saw the movies first (myself included) prefer them.
I'll be the first to admit I found myself trying to relate to the films as I was reading the books. It was very distracting and I had a hard time trying to get through the books because of it.
