Heard some encouraging words from a huge Pitt fan today. Pretty intelligent guy who watches every game intently. Called Kennan Lewis the best player on their D last year and how "Silly" it was to let him walk for the pedestrian amount the Saints paid. Thinks he has potential for a few Pro Bowls and is just coming into his own.
I gotta different impression after browsing Pittsburg message boards and from what national media response I have heard.
The theme of the message boards was that he wouldn't be missed greatly but it would have been nice to have him while younger talent developed. The NFL network radio station
mentioned he was a decent pickup and could compete for a starting position but needed to make better plays on the ball. I haven't come across ANYTHING that has him as the best corner on the team much less the best player, but I love the optimism. I think he will definitely strengthen our secondary.

I have read the complete opposite. Most of the media gave the Saints an A for signing Lewis and Steeler fans on twitter were furious about losing him... What sources exactly are you using??? You are also the guy who started a thread with the title "Guys I don't know about you but I'm not feeling it..." Peace Negative Nancy

here's a fun fact for today i just discovered-
Keenan Lewis and Victor Butler were teammates at Oregon State.
Training Camp 2012-
"I want you to start Victor. It's fukkin Jerry. He won't let me do it. My hands are tied here."
March 2013-
Yo, Victor my man! I've been tellin these guys about you. Remember the talk we had last year about you being a starter?..."

MichelleBeisner: Source close to the situation telling me Dumervil not generating a lot of interest from other teams. #freeagency

How much do the Broncos have to pay Elvis since they released him?

rotoworld-
Denver had until 4:00PM ET to submit Dumervil's restructured contract to the league office. They missed the deadline because Dumervil didn't sign the document until 4:07PM. The two sides had agreed to slash Dumervil's salary from $12 million to $8 million, but Dumervil's outright release will immediately cause a $4.869 million salary cap hit in "dead money." The Broncos now have nearly $5 million less with which to work, which significantly reduces the chances he re-ups in Denver. Dumervil heads to an open market that has been incredibly disappointing for defensive ends, from Cliff Avril ($7.5 million a year) to Michael Bennett ($5 million). Denver figures to reset its sights on Dwight Freeney

didja see sportrac is updated for the Saints?
They list Harper as $6.1million in dead money this year. I dunno if I'm more pissed at Loomis for making that deal or Harper having that much leverage as a liability.

I've only been bugging some people by posting it in about every thread his name has come up.
He still could be a possible June 1st cut but I don't see a true replacement for him unless with hit on someone in the draft.

yeah Harper has us by balls.
But it looks like there is no dead money liability for cutting him after the 2013 season.

It's not that there is no dead money, they just don't list the signing bonus in the final year.
His cap number next year is $7.9 and cutting him would give us a $1.75 hit. You save $6.15 cutting him. With our cap woes getting even worse next year he is definitely a candidate for a restructure or a cut.
