No other player ever single-handedly put a game on the map like that. Forgive my slang. Even once-in-a-lifetime athletes like Cael Sanderson and Michal Phelps only mattered every few years or so.
Tiger made golf relevant to the entire county.
It's funny that his primary competitors recognize what he did for the game (and their pockets), but his haters don't.

If Tiger would roll up to the next tourney with two porn stars on his arms and then sit down at the interview table and just go all Sheen on everybody like "yeah I'm banging them all tourney and I'm gonna win too anything else beetches ?" and then go out and be Tiger again he would become the greatest legend in all sports. It's been mentioned, but it's the same reason people hate tebow. It's not that they actually hate Tiger, the man himself, it's the CONSTANT non-stop media attention he gets. It just gets to a point of oversaturation where enough is enough already.
