I a lot of cases I think it's much more than just laziness. You can see that with certain posters on this site who constantly talk about music from 20 or 30 years ago and scream there's no good new music.

I think it has a LOT to do with people's curiosity about music as well. People get stuck in a rut because that was the music that meant something to them when they actually cared about music and it was important to them in their youth. Music is more of a nostalgia trip for them than anything else.

I have the total opposite problem. I listen to so much freaking new music that I can't even keep it straight. Albums and artists that end up in my rotation usually stay there for a max of a month, and then I'm on to something else. There are a few exceptions to that, but I'm pretty schizophrenic with music and genre.

that's basically the majority of the OT from what i've seen which is a microcosm of louisiana IMO. tons of people still stuck on music they liked in their formative teenage years 14-19 and they have pretty closed minds when it comes to any new music.

It seems that way sometimes. Take for instance many of my Facebook friends who I grew up with. They listened to Zeppelin, Sabbath, Rush, etc. They're no way they shouldn't like Orange Goblin, sHeavy, Kadavar, Blues Pills, etc, etc. But they'll bitch about the lack of new music, yet when I post stuff on their pages that has all the hallmarks of the old stuff they're stuck on, they just can't let themselves get into it. They tune out.

I love Rush, but this one cat, I swear to god if he goes on one more time about how they're the best ever and how nobody makes music like that anymore, I'm going to strangle him.

I think some of the blame is due to the lack of a access to new music. All they listen to is 98.1 or what ever bullshite corporate modern rock station they can get. There's no real choice for them. They love Nickelback, but turn a deaf ear to acts like Clutch or Fu Manchu. Hell, we used to get a lot of new music from MTV, but it's been 15 years or more since they lost all credibility.

Did you read my mind? I look at that and swear I wrote it myself. That describes me to a 'T'.

This is how I view it. I'm always looking for my next favorite band. With that Casa Sui, I just got sucked into the youtube wormhole.

I usually don't get into straight musical stuff but that Casa Sui and Papir is some of the best stuff I've heard to lately. Perfect background music while working. All because of the wormhole from listening to some Black Angels.

I've been on a Neo-psychedelia kick for the last few months. So here's another contribution.
