so I thought she may be tricking me into seeing some shitty band..
TF did you ever give a report on the show?
The Action is Go, Eatin Dust, King of the Road are my go to albums from them.

Black Vulpine Bandcamp
Most of the time with women singers in bands like this I am turned off. This isn't the case with this band at all

Black Vulpine have been growing together since 2004 when the female-fronted stoner quartet from Dortmund, Germany, started to create their own sound ranging somewhere between Queens of the Stone Age and Red Fang.
With a new name and a refined, thicker sound BV released a 3-song demo EP late 2013 on Moment of Collapse Records, followed by their debut album "Hidden Places", in September 2015.

I've still got to check some of this latest stuff out.
As far as all the new stuff that's come out lately, I love a lot of it, but I swear I think my favorite is Kadavar's 'Berlin'. The whole album is just fantastic, but some songs like 'Stolen Dreams' just take it over the edge to epic for me. I also like that they fattened the sound up over their last album.
And I'm still rocking that fricking Biblical. Holy shite, that's some good music.
I can't decide what I think about Uncle Acid's 'Night Creeper'. I like it when I'm listening to it at home but in my car for some reason it doesn't do it for me nearly as much.
I'm sure the Dead Weather can fit somewhere in 'Stoner Metal/Sludge/Post-metal/Blues Rock/Psychedelia'. Dodge And Burn is more goodness from them.

I got real close and intimate with the latest The Sword release.... what the hell was I waiting for?
I couldn't concur more. I love the new direction, especially songs like Mist & Shadow or The Dreamthieves. That first one in particular is one hell of an ear worm.
I don't have the first problem with them changing things up. I love their first three albums, but they basically just made he same album three times. I think it's ridiculous not to expect them to change and grow. I couldn't imagine having to stay in the same box musically for a whole career.
I really hope I get to see them at One Eyed Jacks in November.
I was talking with Orange Goblin's Ben Ward before their show at One Eyed Jacks, and he spoke in reverence of the amount of pot that the Sword consumed on a daily basis. Just more proof of what Bill Hicks said in that drugs have done some good for us over the years.

That ain't no lie! Holy shite, I got the whole album 'Euporie Tide' and it is a revelation. I generally don't like all instrumental bands but I can't get enough of this. I can hear Captain Beyond, Wishbone Ash, Deep Purple, and a host of other cool influences.
An outstanding recommendation.
I've checked out some of that sHeavy too. What little I have heard sounds very promising.

check out brume:

In a world where everything travelled at the speed of sludge, Brume were united by a love of the riff in San Francisco at the beginning of 2014. Jamie McCathie (guitar) moved to California, leaving his UK sludge band Gurt in London but knew as soon as he met Susie McMullan (vox/bass) they’d make music. Instantly bonding over bands like Sleep, Windhand and The Melvins the two got to writing. Arising from the fog came Jordan Perkins-Lewis (Drums), who's unique 'Mr Bungle'esque inspiration rounded out the songs, taking each idea and creating something beyond heavy. The trio headed into Sharkbite studios in Oakland (Sleep, High on Fire, Acid King) to create there first record at the end of 2014, combing fuzz soaked stoner metal, haunting ritualistic vocals and crushing slow and low doom.

I see an industrial band by that name, but that's not the band you're talking abou is it? That band's been together a while.

Bringing it full circle, stoniest band I've heard the last few weeks....what's the word on Sheavy? Only listened to The Electric Sleep and it blew my mind....does the rest of their stuff kick this much arse?

t don't get more stoner or psychedelia than this! I know nothing else about this other than what you just posted. Sounds like Ozzy singing
Goddamn....the whole album is just amazing.....
Yeah, the singer is an Ozzy clone, but that's just fine.
I just cannot believe all the dumb motherfrickers who say there is no good new music. I mean, really, how fricked between the ears does someone have to be to ignore all the great music being made today. frick me, there's so many choices I can't decide what to listen to next. Hell, it's hard to keep track of it all.....
I cannot wait to check out the rest of sHeavy's stuff. I seriously doubt that The Electric Sleep album is a one shot wonder.

it's really just laziness. you have a LOT of people who do not actively seek out good music.

New album from VHOL out today. The band, if you're not familiar, features members of YOB my metal album of the year last year), Agalloch, and Hammer of Misfortune.
About to give it a first listen.

I have yet to dive into this Kadavar... I am familiar with them just have not gotten to it... yet
I was listening to Biblical just this morning on the drive down the bayou to work. Their music just does it for me.
I too love when bands, like the Sword, start to expand their sound. However, i felt this way about Mastodon and then they went a lil too crazy for me with their last release. To each his own #420

I mean it is laughable at this point. Guys like us go out of our way to share just about anything we know that most people have not or will not hear. You just need to search this board and the music is there.

I like the vocals with brume. I don't really go for female vocals but opposite the total wall of fuzz it works really well.

I a lot of cases I think it's much more than just laziness. You can see that with certain posters on this site who constantly talk about music from 20 or 30 years ago and scream there's no good new music.
I think it's a question of attitude. Those kinds of people find a reason not to like something, whereas you, me, and people like John look for reasons to like something.
Basically, I like anything that's made with a little passion, art, and integrity no matter the genre.

I think it has a LOT to do with people's curiosity about music as well. People get stuck in a rut because that was the music that meant something to them when they actually cared about music and it was important to them in their youth. Music is more of a nostalgia trip for them than anything else.
I have the total opposite problem. I listen to so much freaking new music that I can't even keep it straight. Albums and artists that end up in my rotation usually stay there for a max of a month, and then I'm on to something else. There are a few exceptions to that, but I'm pretty schizophrenic with music and genre.

that's basically the majority of the OT from what i've seen which is a microcosm of louisiana IMO.
tons of people still stuck on music they liked in their formative teenage years 14-19 and they have pretty closed minds when it comes to any new music.
