they changed up the KR leather in 09

its a slightly different color now, its more glossy and supposed to not wear like the old saddle leather


i only have 1k miles on mine so i can't talk about longevity yet

I knew the color was different, but I didn't realize they actually changed the leather

Yep, and there is a lot less of it.
My 2011 is way different from the 06 I had.

Seems to be less fragile and less prone to scratching.
