A guy at work I know is offering his 870 Express for $200. He says it's about 2 years old and he's only put about 100 shells through it. But it has a few scratches on the stock from when he dropped it out of a tree.

Is it worth buying or should I just spend the extra ~$100 and get it new at Academy?

This would be my first shotgun. Just looking for a little home defense and skeet shooting on occasion

give a new one a few uses and you will also have scratches. Nothing major then buy it. Save a 100 towards ammo and enjoy the govt not
knowing you own it

Hand him $175. You'll have a very reliable shotgun

Buy it. And use the difference versus a new gun to buy ammo

Buy it. And yes, the 887 blows.

870 is right.
