How can we blame this on Miles?

90% of the Rant is wracking their brains on this very question as we speak.

Miles says they don't have to try hard against the smaller teams.

There's enough to legitimately attribute to Miles without having to stretch.
Normally, it's on the other side of the ball.

He was a good player for LSU, but this one is completely on the Chiefs. He hasn't played like a top 5 pick, but had he been drafted where he should have been, he wouldn't receive so much criticism.

Not his fault he was overdrafted.
Had the highest grade at the Chiefs greatest area of need. They could have gotten him in the second round but couldn't get anyone to pay for their #3 overall pick.

1) awesome picture in the article
2) he's still overpaid (nothing against him)

I wish I was in a position to take a $10 million pay cut.

He's still one of the best run stopping DE's in the NFL.

KC can only blame themselves.
The Chiefs should have taken the other LSU DE, T. Holliday

He's making what he should have made in the first place. I bet he's quite happy he got overpaid the last 4 years. Let's be honest, when he was drafted as high as he was, EVERYONE was shocked.

This should be a Miles appreciation thread for providing a scenario where a guy like Tyson Jackson gets paid as much as they paid him.
Thank you Miles!
And it isn't that he was overdrafted, it is that he was drafted in the final year of rookies getting overpaid. He hasn't been very good in pass D, but he is a good run stopper. The problem is you used to have to pay rookies an arm and a leg.

Exactly! Coaching players to underachieve should be appreciated a little bit more around here.

Webster took a pay cut of 3.5 million to stay with Giants

Not really huge news
He wasn't going to get that much in free agency, so figured might as well stay in KC

His job isn't to get guys to succeed in the NFL. It is to succeed here and get paid to play in the NFL.
Jackson succeeded here, and got rich quick in the NFL. Les Miles did a good job.
