My father and I are fishing with friends next week down there. Any good tips before I head that way besides avoiding getting my head cut off? They caught a ton of fish last year so I'm pretty stoked.

Updated: fished hard from Wednesday afternoon through this morning. Caught one fish. 4.4 lbs. my father caught a 7.5 this same morning. Nothing else the entire time. No one was catching anything that we talked to. Sad. But a bad day fishing....

I'd say this is priority 1.

2: Good Luck. The shows from that lake I've seen have been awesome.

wow. I just finished watching the television series Border Wars. They were talking about the killing of the jet skier they had there a few years ago. Pretty interesting stuff.

have fun and be safe

Lake is about 30' low. If you fish the Mexico side you have to have a mexico fishing license.

Hopefully someone in the group has been before and can point you in some general area's.

My best friend just got back from there last night. They were there three days and caught 0 fish. It didn't help that they were facing an average of 25 mph winds, but they said that hardly anyone was catching anything.

Not saying y'all won't do any good, and this was all of theirs first trip. Hopefully y'all have better luck than they did

Learn how to fish a Carolina Rig if you don't know how and find points. They are probably still stacked on the deep points, roadbeds, creekbeds, ponds, and all the other shite they have down there. A good sonar is VERY helpful there.

Hollow body swimbaits are badass there too.

I'd probably try out an Alabama (umbrella) rig there wtih swimbaits deep on some structure.
