it wasn't a bad effort, but not impressive enough to give Monty so much slack.

JMO

they weren't expected to win a single game in that series, much less take one on the road.

First of all, it's great to see the board in full meltdown mode. Every thread on the first page is new

So that's my beef. Pro-Monty guys, why exactly is Monty considered such a good coach in the NBA?

I've said before I think Monty needs to find his Tex Winter if he's going to stay long term. I've never said Monty is blameless in the losses, just that now is not the time to bring out the torches and pitch forks. The only thing to care about this season are things that affect future seasons. Even if you felt you had definitive proof that Monty never will be what this team needs, now is not the time to do anything about it. This team won't be able to land the top coaching candidates until the roster is ready to make the playoffs.

I'm much more concerned about Demps proving he belongs than Monty. As AD grows Monty will be easy to move on from if that's necessary. If Demps screws things up that will be much harder to recover from. This will be the first time Demps gets to make big decisions, both with cap space and with having to actually pick the 1 player out of 4 similar ones that will boom rather than bust or just be adequate.

Yep, Monty definitely will be here at the beginning of next season (and rightly so) unless the remainder of the season goes much further to shite and off the court issues come into play.

Next season is Monty's crunch time.

Most coaching experts will tell you that the sign of a well coached team is the ability to finish/close out games. When you have a 17 point lead at home against a .500 ball club with 8 min left in the game and lose then you have a problem. If it happens regularly/frequently then have a personnel problem or a coaching problem. Either way you better have a GM who can fix the problem.

Gordon - Veteran
Anderson - Veteran
Lopez - Veteran
Vasquez - Veteran
Aminu - Veteran

I wouldn't just blame these things on having a young team.

Yeah, he needs a strong bench coach helping it out, but he is definitely proving solid at developing players.

Again, you hit the nail on the head. A coach affects your team. A GM affects your franchise.

That averages out to 5 yrs in the league per player. That's pretty much describes a veteran, doesn't it?

I see math is not your strong suit. And I actually included this year for several of them. If you think we are a veteran team, I think you are a tard.

Pretty strong for a Chalmette High grad. I know I know, we are a bunch of d-leaguers. We're young. It's Chris Paul's fault. It's Bower's fault. It's the plumbers fault. It's my nut sacks
fault.

You keep making excuses. It's what you do best.

Uhh, what?

You realize Gordon is the only one on this team that has been a starter before this season, and he spent the last year and a half out with an injury

And you keep dismissing the roster problems. Monty has always had questionable rotations but outside of that the biggest complaint this season seems to be the lack of competitiveness. Last year's team certainly was competitive, they rarely got blown out and I don't remember too many big leads slipping away, certainly not in back to back games. So what's different, is Monty worse or is it the difference between a veteran squad and one where the starters average 3 years of NBA experience? I'd ask you to do the math but...

Seriously though, explain the difference between this season and last. Do you think Monty is significantly worse this season or do you admit that the roster issues may be closer to reasons than excuses?

I agree that last years roster played hard. I think this roster plays relatively hard, but his choices of rotations are turrible. It's almost likes he's out to prove his way is the way, regardless of what the outcome is or what others think. It's not like he has the "skins on the wall" to support his point.

What has been bothering me the most lately, besides the point that I've been screaming all year about sitting Davis in winnable 4th qtrs, is the plays he's drawing up in crunch time. If option A is covered, option B is to have Vasquez throw up a prayer.

He comes across to me like his shite doesn't stink.
