Steam is constantly doing deals on this game, and the PC version fixed all of the "load errors" that happened on the consoles. Game actually looks good, and the gameplay is extremely addicting. Think Fire Emblem meets FFIX.
The story has been pretty good to, because of the "team battle" aspect of the game, it doesn't focus on an individual as much as an all out war with a nation. Check it out if you like Fire Emblem (Advance Wars etc.) type games or Final fantasy games.. pretty fun.

It's different, it IS very much a turn based RPG game.. but added into the game is a unit command system. Throughout the game you will "hire" multiple characters to join your "units" and you setup the units - how they stand in battle, where they stand in battle, the leader of the unit etc. You then fill the unit with a group that works.
So currently I have 3 units, 1 is highly melee focused, and deals a whole lot of damage.. but can also die easier, it does have 1 healer in the group. One group that is extremely well rounded, and can take a punch a lot better than the first group, and has a tank and a healer.. but wont always "kill the enemy in the first try," and lastly I have a group that is very pure damage focused, between magic and melee, with extremely heavy armor so they can take a blow.. and they have no healer.
The fights play-out in real time, but you chose what each group is going to do in turn-base fashion.. it's really fun, and the quest system etc. is really fleshed out as well. I've already run across 2 "big" boss type monsters that aren't even attached to the quest on top of that... so things to look forward to.

As do I, but I just watched some footage of this game and I'm not seeing the Fire Emblem connection other than the combat has turns.
There aren't units on a map that you maneuver and such. Just the combat is turn based.
I might check it out still, but I find the FE connection to be loose at best.

Just looked at it on Steam and I don't see a strategic overlay used like Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem isn't a good comparisons, as I recall. I played through it about 3 years ago, had no desire to do so again.

best thing about this game for me was the battle system.
whatever you do though do not get to many chain groups at the beginning they will rape your groups.

There is no strategic overlay, that's the FF part, the Fire Emblem part is in the unit deployment / strategy, and Sword - Axe - Polearm part of the game. You have to create units that have strengths and deploy them inside the battle to best fit the situation.. while it doesn't have the strategic overlay, it def. has the unit control and figuring out which is best for which time mindset.
In the battle map also, you have to strategically attack other units on the map in order to make sure you aren't cut off, back attacked etc. all the while you are trying to do the same thing to the enemy units.

Game has few interesting mechanics but its got a ton of issues. The PC port is the best version to play though.

I have a $10 credit on there but am thinking of using it on the Bioshock Infinate season pass, but I am afraid the DLC for it will be all multi player stuff so I don't know.

I'm looking forward to that game, I have a free code for it because of my gpu. I wish I had played the previous 2 but oh well.

They are cheap and about a 12 hour play through but I know your backlog is HUGE.
