Bonvillain on the hill tonight...what would you do?

First let me say that Paul Maineri knows way more baseball than me. He's the manager of the club and his decisions on who pitches are usually pretty good.
But just for fun, let's play manager here.
Would you start Bonvillain tonight in a midweek game?
or do you view him as a valuable lefty that should be coming out of the bullpen?
I'd rather see him in a long relief role, but that's just me.
Thoughts?

Right decision...he can still relieve this weekend.
What kind of puzzled me is PM saying Rumbelow may start tomorrow. Do we really need to run Rumbelow out there after only a week back from injury?

Not until Sunday most likely.

I think PM is just trying to get Rumby some innings. I don't think this will wind up being a weekly occurrence.

Yes he can relieve before Sunday. Hell Glenn started last week and started Sunday. BB could throw 2-3 innings of relief if need be.

bonvillain is mainly starting because PM still is giving him the opportunity to win the sunday job. Secondly we have two midweek games so he sorta has to start.
Come sec play he'll be in the pen and likely wont be starting during the midweek.

Nothing matters until sec play
Bonvillain will be in relief during SEC play
Glenn will get that first sec start, he's earned it
Bonvillain and Rumbelow will be needed in relief during sec play
Rumbelow is starting to get some work since he missed first two weeks, this way he can warm up and know he's going a couple of innings and not waiting on how the game dictates it
Once sec play starts the midweek games will become johnny wholestaff where everyone pitches an inning to stay fresh for the weekend
I posted months ago that Cody Glenn would be the key to this staff, can he hold up and give LSU that Sunday start (five or six) and this LSU team will be much better on the weekends
The batting order needs some work and that will come with time - still think the offense has some shortcomings that will get exposed and could be the same thing as last year when regionals come around - one bad game can cost you Omaha at that point and it will be on Javi

If Rumbelow starts tomorrow Im sure it will only be 2 or 3 innings max. I see no problem getting him some work in.

Do you think that PM would throw him for more than 2 innings? I am thinking tomorrow is going to be one of those bullpen games where everyone gets an inning or two.

im actually of the mindset that PM wants rumbelow to throw a good 5 innings, not just 2.
imo if he only wanted him to throw 2, he would have just kept him in his normal reliever role and brought him in somewhere in the middle innings.

Yeah...on about 25 pitches.

And who would have started?
I just don't think PM is going to have a starter go long in this one. Like I said, I think it will be everyone getting an inning or two, unless Bonvillain can only go like 3-4 tonight.

whoever really? joey bourgeouis, reynolds would be two candidates.

an article on nola said rumbelow likely wont go longer than 3 innings. so i guess that answers that.

He will still come out of the bullpen Saturday and/or Sunday if he starts tonight. It is more important to get him innings right now. Washington is a 3-7 ballclub, we dont need to be worrying about having bonvillian available in the pen.

The bigger question is why Jacoby and Ty are hitting 257 and 194 respectively against non conference competition.

Knock on wood, but we are one injury away from being in search of a weekend starter. With that said, CPM has to begin developing someone to fill that void if the situation presents itself. I'm really high on Bonvillain, he just needs to be able to jump that 5th inning hurdle.
I might be completely wrong, but maybe starting him midweek is to try and build him up to throwing 5+ innings.

batting order is fine....wasn't the batting order fault that stony brook knock the ball all around alex box either.
