This is just flat-out wrong. You couldn't have a show at all without being somewhat sympathetic toward the characters, even if you know objectively they are rather bad people.

how many episodes of seinfeld were used to showcase why a character was the way it is? this season of girls has had TWO

girls is supposed to showcase "real" characters in a "slice of life" showcase, which is not what seinfeld did at all

seinfeld, it's always sunny, etc. all the "bad people" comedies are based in our inability to be sympathetic towards the characters and we laugh at the absurdly bad shite they do, because they're so terrible
