Didnt we lose to Nichols once last year?

No.

The last time LSU lost to Nicholls St. was in 2009 when Nicholls won 3-1 in Alex Box Stadium on Wednesday, April 15, 2009.

Despite calls on the Rant for Mainieri's firing when that happened, LSU retained Coach Mainieri and that season turned out to be pretty successful as I recall....

I loved that 2-0 game sunday. It was perfect!

No no, we didnt score at least 10 runs. Winning doesn't matter, we suck.

We don't hit well when it's cold...this isn't something that is new. Last year when we lost 2/3 to Appy St, it was cold. Thankfully baseball is played during warm periods of the year

What was the temperature for the home Super Regional last year?

Whoops I forgot, everyone expects us to not have any bad games and we should hit 5 home runs and score 10+ runs a game.

So I guess we should never ever lose a game. Especially to a team that has 8 guys get drafted off of it. No talent bunch of bums. We should have won the first 2 games by 10+.

Their rankings don't make much sense. You could say they reward better records but Louisville and South Carolina don't make sense. Then that they reward traditional powers but us being so low and Louisville being so high doesn't make sense. I don't think they do their homework.

Yeah. Rankings don't really bother me either way early in the season. Things work themselves out once conference play starts.

Baseball rankings at this point in the season are about like preseason football polls. Don't mean very much.

How many of their rag arm pitchers were drafted? Their pitching staff was bad, not to mention their ace threw nearly 2 complete games just a few days prior to arriving in Baton Rouge. Our pitching staff performed pretty darn well against a very good hitting ball club. Our hitters, just like they didn't hit in the SEC Tourny, nor in the Regionals, let the team down and lost the Series to Stony Brook.

They mean nothing and they mean everything all at once. When you have a committee selects the top 8 teams and additional 8 host teams, preception is key. They are going to be more forgiving to teams that they feel are good (i.e. that were in top 5 preseason). LSU football in 2007 doesn't get back into the title game after the 2nd loss if they weren't ranked so high to start the season. But the pollsters new that LSU had one of the top teams so by virtue of other teams' losses, LSU was able to climb back in.

You mean just from last year's squad? 3

The kid that threw the complete game shutout against us in Game 2 was drafted in the 33rd round by the Oakland Athletics. ETA: Sorry, we scored 1 run in this game, not 0.

James Campbell, pitched against us as well, was drafted in 12th round by the Dodgers.

Jasvir Rakkar, also pitched against us, was drafted in the 26th round by the Chicago Cubs.

Bunch of rag arm pitchers.

Right, and the perception of LSU baseball is very high. LSU gets the benefit of the doubt. They have won 6 World Series and would sell out every single game in post season play.

My point in saying they don't mean anything was referring to the fact that we are 11 games in the season out of 56 and haven't started conference play yet. There is a ton of baseball yet to be played.

After pitching 250 pitches the weekend + Monday before.

You don't follow baseball very much if you think a 26th and 33rd round draft pick are a big deal.

How well did those stud pitchers throw the following week? Don't forget that we scored about 3 runs the next 18 innings after winning game 1.
